12/15 Calculus Reflection:
Content Skill:
The skill I would like to reflect on is completing the "First Derivative". My calculus class spent a few days working on this concept, and over time everyone in the class was able to understand. Working through problems as a class was the most helpful activity for me, this helped me understand what was going on step by step and allowed me to take coinciding notes. Questions to Kyle from other classmates as well as being able to ask my own questions really helped to improve my learning, and the notes I was able to take down. Memorizing exactly how to manipulate a each kind of number to find its derivative was a true revelation, and will help me throughout my further math education.
Problem Solving Skills:
During this semester I got a bit set back while learning the chain rule, but was able to get myself back on track through recognizing and resolving my errors and creating a study guide to reflect back on so I can avoid making mistakes in the future. I intend to continue practicing the skill of being able to recognize and resolve my errors, each time I am troubled by calculus in the future and hopefully this will really help me grow as a student. This skill will truly benefit me in all further endeavors because it truly is such a versatile skill.
