My Political Philosophy: The government should be a leadership in which decisions are made to benefit, and provide equal opportunity for the majority. Government actions should also be highly influenced by public wants and needs, in order to avoid being overthrown.
I Admire: my father, he is a great and very honorable man, He works as a doctor and has dedicated his life to helping others, this is what has inspired me to go into the medical field as well.
Market/ Polis: During this discussion I was very interested in how these notions of market and polis coexist, yet are known as binaries. Overall, I agree that both aspects are required in order for a well functioning populace.
Issue: The most pressing issue facing people of the 21st century are environmental destruction, and climate change. These issues are pressing because the earth we live on is all we have, we need to respect and cherish it and do whatever we can to combat its destruction.
Preliminary definition of power: Having influence over others, either through force or coercion.
Power: During the class discussion of the different principles of power, I really appreciated and understood the situations in which my classmates expressed their personal power in different situations to receive chocolate.
9/14/15 Reflection on Discussion about Decision Making: Today's class discussion influenced my view on the process of developing The Declaration of Independence, by informing me that it was a rigorous and sloppy process. In order to succeed in group decision making, everyone involved must act with respect and be open to compromise.
9/22/15 Seminar Discussion: The seminar our class participated in today really aided my understanding and interest on the distribution of national power. Discussing the shared power between the people, local government, state government, and federal government opened my eyes to the extensive check and balance system put into place for our own protection. In my opinion, the distribution of national power should be delegated by the amount of people/nations that the issue affects.
9/23/15 Fundamental Beliefs: I chose my placement on the "Political Map" in the lower left quadrant near the very middle. This represents my belief in a slightly stronger federal government, that keeps power from individual states and people. The federal government is more educated about political issues than any lone state government or american citizen and can therefore deal with situations more appropriately.
